The judge's decision to not allow Chauvin's past knee attack before the jury was a two-edged sword that might have confused the issues at hand. Although it was past bad conduct, it could also have been used by the defense to show that the "attack" was survivable by someone in good health, opening a whole new can of worms for the prosecution. The defense request to not allow this was actually very telling, they were more afraid of the knee on the neck than they were about the survivability of it. That, to me, telegraphs that even the defense attorney's felt the heat of guilt very strongly.
